Numerous Arrests - Wadeye - Update

Police arrested a further 12 people in Wadeye today, following a large disturbance in the community on Monday morning.
Of these arrests, nine were relating to outstanding warrants, and three were linked to the violent disturbance which took place at the community store, where a disturbance involving up to 200 people occurred.
Superintendent Daniel Bacon of the Arnhem and Western Division said Police have now arrested a total of 27 people since this incident.
“Police have moved swiftly following the disturbance and the community can now feel safe once again,” Superintendent Bacon said.
One person was charged with take part in a riot, riotous behaviour in a public place and armed with an offensive weapon and remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Court tomorrow (Friday, 26 October).
A male and female were charged with aggravated assault, armed with an offensive weapon and engage in violent conduct. These two offenders and the other nine people apprehended on outstanding warrants, have been bailed to appear in the Wadeye Court on 20 November.
“Police will continue to maintain a high visibility Police presence in the community and investigation are continuing into the violent disturbance,” Superintendent Bacon said.
