Northern Territory Police in conjunction with Katherine Transport Inspectors have wrapped up a two day traffic operation in Timber Creek.
Constable First Class Scott Aiken said the operation, that ran from 27 to 28 January was aimed at targeting unregistered, uninsured and heavy motor vehicle compliance.
“Out of the 181 vehicles checked by Police and inspectors, a total of seventeen defect notices were issued, along with eleven infringement notices for various offences including speeding, driving unregistered and driving an unsafe motor vehicle.
“Of concern, a 47-year-old male was issued a summons after he blew a low range reading whilst driving a heavy vehicle bearing a wide load trailer. All heavy vehicle motorists in Northern Territory must drive with a zero blood alcohol reading.
“Overall Police were generally happy with the behaviour of motorists.
“Northern Territory Police will continue to work in partnership with Katherine Transport Inspectors to ensure Territory roads remain safe for all,” Constable First Class Aiken said.
