Strike Force Trident arrests

Officers from Strike Force Trident have arrested five males in separate incidents over the weekend.

Around 11:45pm on Friday, 25 January, Trident officers were sighted a suspected drug transaction between occupants of two vehicles in Karama.

Officers conducted a traffic apprehension on one of the vehicles on Mueller Road.

A subsequent search of vehicle located:
• 1x glass ice pipe
• 1x clip seal bag containing 0.5 grams of methamphetamine
• 3x clip seal bags containing a total of 1.4 grams of methamphetamine
• $4160 Australia currency

The two male occupants, aged 23 and 36, were arrested and conveyed to the Darwin Watch House. The 23-year-old was subjected to a drug test which returned a positive result for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

The 23-year-old male was charged with:
• 1 x drive with prohibited drug in blood
• 1 x possess Schedule 1 dangerous drug in a public place
• 1 x furnish a false name to Police
• 1 x breach of order suspended sentence

The 36-year-old male was charged with:
• 1 x possess Schedule 1 dangerous drug in a public place
• 1 x possess thing used to administer dangerous drug

Both are due in Darwin Local Court today.

In another incident, three males, aged 24, 17, and 19, were arrested in relation to a stolen motor vehicle.

The vehicle was reported stolen on the morning of Saturday, 26 January. Around 11:00pm the same day police received information that the vehicle was sighted in Darwin CBD. Police responded, located the vehicle and apprehended the three occupants.

The 24-year-old driver was subjected to a drug test which returned a positive result for methamphetamine, amphetamine and cannabis. He is due to appear in Darwin Local Court on 5 February 2019.

The 17-year-old was denied diversion and is due to appear in the Youth Justice Court tomorrow.

The 19-year-old was released without charge.
