Summons – Property offences – Darwin

Officers from Strike Force Trident have identified four youths in relation to alleged property offences which occurred on 9 March 2019.

Police believe two youths and another co-offender unlawfully entered a residence in Muirhead where they stole wallets and car keys around 12:40am. They fled the location when they were disturbed by the occupants.

The trio then attended a residence in Leanyer where they stole a vehicle after taking keys from inside the property.

Using the stolen vehicle, they made their way to Knuckey Lagoon where they picked up a further three young offenders.

Police allege the six youths returned to the Muirhead residence around 5:00am with the intention of stealing another vehicle. They were once again disturbed by the occupants and they fled the scene.

The stolen vehicle was sighted by police in Lyons and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued throughout the northern suburbs before being terminated at Knuckey Lagoon.

The youths crashed the vehicle in bushland in the Knuckey Lagoon area. Three were seen fleeing from the vehicle. A 13-year-old male was arrested at the scene.

He and another 13-year-old male are to be summoned for:

  • 1x Unlawful Entry
  • 1x Stealing
  • 1x Unlawful Use Of Motor Vehicle
  • 1x Damage To Property

Police executed a search warrant a Karama residence and located a 14-year-old male on 13 March 2019.

  • 3x Stealing
  • 1x Unlawful Use Of Motor Vehicle
  • 1x Damage To Property

Investigations are continuing to identify the two outstanding offenders.

Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Jordan said police continue to be frustrated at the number of houses left unsecured and vehicles being stolen from them.

“Again, police must remind members of the public to work with us. Be mindful that stolen vehicles are more often than not utilised in breaking into other residences and businesses,” he said.
