On October 28th Ken and Pauline Williams will say farewell to the NT Police Force.
Tennant Creek will especially miss the duo as they have been very active in the improvements and upgrading of the Police Social Club since their arrival here 2 years ago. Ken has been the licensee and Pauline has been the Treasurer and they have often been found on days off over at the club stocking fridges and generally sprucing gardens and the club.
Ken has been always found behind the b-b-q making sure everyone was fed at functions while Pauline has always made sure everyone received their customary plaques when farewelled from Tennant.
Their roles at Tennant have been operating the watch house and they will be sorely missed from this role. Both have been Peer Support Officers for the station and just generally quite often been Mum and Dad when times have required that touch.
Ken Joined on Oct 1st 2001 and Pauline joined 19th April 2004.
Their roles have covered Communications, Watch house in Darwin and Tennant Creek, Court Cells Darwin Magistrates Court, Summons delivery in Darwin area, Front Counters in Darwin area, Criminal History and Warrants section and SAFE NT.
They have always been involved also in other areas as well including Int. Women in Policing Conference held in Darwin in 2008 where they handled the movement of nearly 600 delegates throughout the conference.
They also ran the Darwin Station Social Club for several years organising some pretty memorable Xmas functions. Pauline also was the Sober Bob for Palmerston and Darwin stations Xmas parties for a few years making sure members arrived home safely after a night of fun and frivolity.
Ken will be remembered for his cooking skills by many members who participated in 2 bikie runs that were escorted through some pretty isolated areas of the NT and yet he managed to turn out some great feeds in the middle of nowhere to some very hungry police members.
Pauline has been actively involved until last year as an Auxiliary Region delegate, always aiming to gain the best for Auxiliaries in the Territory.
Both Ken and Pauline have also been the recipients of NT Police Auxiliary of the Year Award in 2008 and 2009.
As they head off to Queensland to finally enjoy their retirement and their family, Tennant Creek and the NT Police will certainly miss this happy duo who have left their mark in many areas.
Enjoy your retirement Ken and Pauline-it is well deserved and you will be missed.
