Five arrested for unlawful entry and motor vehicle theft - Alice Springs

Alice Springs Police have arrested five youths aged 13 and 14 in relation to a break and enter in Braitling and unlawful use of two vehicles.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Janelle Snigg said five male youths unlawfully entered a unit in Braitling and stole car keys to a Toyota dual cab utility and Nissan sports car amongst other items, in the early hours of yesterday.

“Police located and recovered both vehicles at Hidden Valley Camp at around 6:30am on Sunday after a foot chase with the offenders.  

“One of the offenders aged 14-years has been charged with unlawful entry and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will face court later today.  The other four offenders aged 14 and 13years were interviewed and released for youth diversion.  Investigation are continuing and a number of other lines of enquiry have been identified.”

In a separate incident Police continue to investigate the unlawful entry of a house in Braitling on 28 December.

“It appears an unknown person has entered the premises through an unlocked window, taking a set of keys from the kitchen bench and stealing a Toyota Camry parked at the residence.

“The vehicle was located burnt out behind Larapinta Valley Camp on 29 December. Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Snigg said.

“Police are also investigating a vehicle fire in Gillen at around 4:40am this morning. It appears the owner of the car had left her vehicle unlocked at the time of the incident. 

“Police urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.  You are our eyes and ears and we as a community need to work together to cease this offending.”
