A man has been taken into custody after Police responded to reports of an armed offender in Nightcliff.

Senior Sergeant Bob Harrison said that at around 11:30am Police cordoned off areas surrounding a unit on Progress Drive.

“At 12:50pm the alleged offender handed himself over to Police and is assisting with enquiries."

Senior Sergeant Harrison said initial Police investigations have revealed no firearms were involved.
