Missing men found - Beswick

Police

A helicopter has located two missing men after a search was launched this morning near Beswick.

Senior Sergeant Shaun Gill said the two men, aged 59 and 44, were reported missing to Police at 7:00pm last night and were last seen departing Beswick community at midday on Saturday.

“An extensive air and land search, utilising members from the Territory Response Group, local Police from Bulman and Maranboy, volunteers from Northern Territory Emergency Services and members of the community, commenced at first light,” said Senior Sergeant Gill.

“The two men were located just after 11:30am by spotters in a helicopter, approximately 21 kilometres north east of Beswick community. The men have since been taken to the local clinic for assessment.

“This is a timely reminder to those embarking on outdoor activities, such as hunting or camping, to tell someone exactly where you are going and when you expect to be back.

“It's also vital to stay with your vehicle if there is a breakdown, as a vehicle is much easier for searchers to see than a person”.
