Operation Sunningdale Applauds Public Assistance

Police

Northern Territory Police Officers involved in Operation Sunningdale wish to thank members of the public for information provided throughout the duration of the exercise.

In conjunction with Neighbourhood Watch, Police utilised social media and public displays depicting CCTV images to request public assistance in identifying people Police believe could help them solve crimes.

Acting Commander Matt Hollamby said there was significant feedback from social media and displays in Palmerston and Casuarina shopping centres.

“We received very good information on 55 of the 77 images.  As a result we have numerous avenues of inquiry to follow up in over 30 investigations.

“Operation Sunningdale has been a success because of the help from people in the community who are as fed up as we are with criminal and anti-social behaviour.

“Our job is to keep people safe and reduce crime.  We will utilise every tool we can to achieve that goal.”

Acting Commander Hollamby said it is likely more operations of a similar nature will be planned in the future.
