Operation Trident Continues Following Averts Success

Police

Due to the success of Operation Avert over the weekend, NT Police will continue to run Operation Trident into the future, targeting people with outstanding arrest warrants.

Acting Commander Matt Hollamby of the Darwin Metropolitan Command said both operations ran concurrently over the weekend.

“Police from every station across the Territory were involved in the 72 hour Operation, which saw the arrest of 26 people for outstanding arrest warrants,” Acting Commander Hollamby said.

“Operation Trident members in Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs continued on with their good work, arresting a further 32 people to add to their ever growing total.

“Thus far, members have arrested 217 people for offences and a further 148 for outstanding warrants.

“Although Trident was originally a four week operation, due to its success across the three main centres, it will now continue for the foreseeable future.

“The success of the operation is due, largely; to the assistance we have received from the public. I continue to urge people to contact Police should they know the whereabouts of alleged offenders who have failed to appear in court on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
