Police

Doorknocks and motorbike patrols of bushland surrounding Kargaru Camp have today flushed out a missing prisoner from the Barkly Work Camp.

Scott Green, who walked out of the southern end of the camp shortly after dinner on Saturday the 20th October, was apprehended around 11.30hrs this morning.

“We had received information that the escaped prisoner may be in the vicinity of Kargaru Camp, so we launched a targeted operation utilising trail bikes in the hills and bushland around the camp,” said Senior Sergeant Des Green of the Tennant Creek Police.

“Whilst the search was underway, the escapee was spotted by Corrections staff on Peko road, fleeing from the Kargaru Camp area.  He was arrested by attending Police and will appear before a Magistrate today.

Scott Green has been charged with escape lawful custody.
