Significant Drug Busts – Adelaide River and Stuart Park

Over 28kgs of drugs are now off the streets thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Drug and Organised Crime Squad.

In a targeted operation, Detectives intercepted a vehicle of particular interest in Adelaide River and subsequently arrested the occupant after a search of the vehicle yielded a commercial quantity of cannabis.

In an unrelated investigation traffic apprehensions and a raid on a house in Stuart Park resulted in a further significant seizure of cannabis, methamphetamine, cannabis resin and cannabis seeds and $27,500 in Australian currency.

In a message to drug traffickers, Superintendent Peter Schiller of the Drug and Organised Crime Squad said that Detective had eyes and ears everywhere and would continue to utilise intelligence on the movement of drugs into the Territory to systematically strike drug traffickers. 

“We know who you are and we are watching.  Expect us when you least expect us.”

The Adelaide River seizure is the result of Operation Scavenger which yielded a total of 8597 grams of Cannabis and resulted in the arrest of a 46-year-old man.

The subsequent raids in Stuart Park resulted in the arrest of a further four people who are facing a number of charges, and the seizure of a further 41 pounds of cannabis, 368 grams of methamphetamine, cash, cannabis seeds and resin.

A 47-year-old female and a 39-year-old male have been charged with Possess Cannabis – Commercial Quantity. 

A 43-year-old male has been charged with Supply Cannabis – Commercial Quantity and Possess Methamphetamine – Public Place.

A 61-year-old male has been charged with Supply Cannabis – Commercial Quantity; Possess Cannabis – Commercial Quantity; Possess Schedule 2 Substance – Commercial Quantity (methamphetamine); Receive Property – Commission of Offence; Possess Cannabis Resin; Possess Cannabis Seeds.

“The message to the drug traffickers is clear.  If you come to the Territory to deal drugs eventually you will end up in a cell, we will have your house, your car and your bank accounts.  We will seize any assets obtained with the proceeds of organised crime,” warned Superintendant Schiller.
