Summer in Alice - Property Crime Update

Police

Northern Territory Police continue to target property offenders as part of a special summer operation in Alice Springs in order to enhance public safety.

Detective Senior Sergeant Travis Wurst said there has been a significant reduction in the number of reported incidents of unlawful entries during the first month (November) of the operation compared with the same period last year.  This follows on from the excellent results across October which saw the lowest rate of unlawful entries for Alice Springs in 4 years.

“Police have made a total of 69 arrests and issued 25 notices to appear for property related offending since for 1 November 2012.

“It’s a timely reminder for residents to lock their vehicles and make sure their homes are secure.  It only takes a moment for opportunistic thieves to take advantage of an unlocked door.  It would be very disappointing for a family to have their Christmas spoilt because of an accidental failure to secure your house or car'”.
