Arrests Made - Alice Springs

Police

Alice Springs Police have arrested six juveniles in relation to several crimes over the New Year period.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Janelle Snigg from the Southern Investigations Division said twelve charges have been laid against four of the youths.

“Thanks to some very good work by Police we have now charged a 14 year-old male with unlawful entry and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.  Two 14 year-old males and a 16 year-old male have been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, aggravated unlawful entry and stealing.  One 14 year-old was also charged with breaching bail conditions.

“Today we have also arrested two males aged 14 and 17 for interfering with a vehicle in East Side overnight.  Money stolen from the vehicle was allegedly found in the pocket of the 17 year-old.  Charges will be laid later today.”

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Snigg said Police have worked very hard over the past few days and thank members of the community for their assistance.

“Many of these crimes are opportunistic and the public can help by being security aware and reporting any incident to Police in a timely manner.  Sometimes the information may seem insignificant but it could be the key Police need to make an arrest.

“If you see anything out of the ordinary or witness suspicious behaviour you should call the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
