A 38-year-old man is currently in Police custody in relation to an unlawful entry and aggravated assault which occurred in Larapinta last year.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said the incident occurred on 11 July 2012.

"It is alleged the man entered an Esther Court home at around 4:00am armed with a baseball bat,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Phillips said.

“The man is alleged to have struck four females aged 12, 13, 17 and 54. The two youngest girls ran from the area and alerted a friend, who in turn, contacted Police.

“St John Ambulance members attended and conveyed the four victims to Alice Springs Hospital. All victims sustained injuries in the unprovoked attack however the 54-year-old grandmother and 12-year-old girl sustained serious injuries which required surgery.

“Investigations have continued, which led to the interview and arrest of the 38-year-old today. He has been summonsed to appear in the Alice Springs Court on 23 January 2013.”
