Dealer Duped

Police

A 49 year-old man will face court after Drug and Organised Crime Detectives raided a house in Nightcliff overnight.

Detective Superintendent Tony Fuller said Police, acting on information from the public that there was a strong smell of cannabis in the area, discovered 200 suspected tabs of LSD and a quantity of cannabis at the property.

Detective Superintendent Tony Fuller said Police, acting on information from the public that there was a strong smell of cannabis in the area, discovered 200 suspected tabs of LSD and a quantity of cannabis at the property.

“The suspect was later arrested at a licensed premise allegedly in possession of a further 44 tabs of what he thought was LSD.

“Testing later revealed the tabs did not contain any LSD but did contain a derivative of a schedule two drug that is still illegal.”

Detective Superintendent Fuller said people were risking their health, wasting their money and facing jail time by engaging in this kind of behaviour.

“Drug dealers are interested in profit only.  This man believed he had purchased LSD and was ripped off by his own supplier. We will allege he was then in the process of on-selling these items.  We cannot stress enough that you do not know what is that you are buying and this should be enough to warn anyone off purchasing or consuming drugs.”

The man has been bailed to appear at the Darwin Magistrates Court on March 5th.
