Man Charged for Domestic Incidents – Alice Springs

Police

A 34-year-old man appeared in court today, following a number of recent domestic violence assaults in Alice Springs.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said it is alleged the man assaulted his 28-year-old female partner several times between 15 and 17 January.

“It is alleged the two were drinking together at their home in Larapinta Valley Camp when the incidents occurred,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Phillips said.

“During that time period it is alleged the woman was punched, kicked, struck to the head with a shovel and stabbed in the knee with a kitchen knife.

“Police located and arrested the man yesterday. He has since been charged with numerous offences including causing serious harm upon the woman. He was refused Police bail and has appeared in the Alice Springs Court today.

“This type of uncontrolled violence is simply abhorrent. Police will not stand for this type of behaviour and neither should members of the community.

“If you suspect domestic violence, contact Police on 131 444 or 000 in an emergency.”
