Police are urging members of the public, who may have witnessed an altercation in Litchfield Street, to contact Police.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Kennon of the Serious Crime Squad said it is believed two people, a woman aged 38 and a man aged 30 were involved in an altercation at around 9:50pm on Wednesday 30 January.

“Both received stab wounds to the torso during the incident and were conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital, where they remain in a stable condition,” Detective Senior Sergeant Kennon.

“Detectives are working to establish the direct circumstances surrounding the incident and are calling on witnesses to assist.

“The man is described as being of aboriginal appearance, slim build, 175cm tall with curly hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing a hat, dark jeans and no shirt.

“The woman is described as being of aboriginal appearance, medium build and 170cm tall. At the time of the incident she was wearing a t-shirt and a skirt.”

Police are interested in the movements of the pair in the hours prior to the altercation.
