Two Escapees Arrested – Alice Springs

Police

The two youths who escaped from the Alice Springs Detention Centre last night, have been arrested and are to appear in court this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said the youths, aged 15 and 17, fled the centre at around 7pm.

“At around 3:00am today, CCTV Operators in Darwin witnessed a group of five youths acting suspiciously near the intersection of Hartley Street and Stott Terrace,” Detective Senior Sergeant Malley said.

“Police attended the location and arrested all five youths, one of whom was the 17-year-old escapee.

“The four other youths, aged 13 to 17, were arrested for breaching bail conditions.

“Police located and arrested the 15-year-old male youth at a residence at around 7:15am in Alice Springs.

“It was a great result for Police and CCTV Operators that the boys were located so swiftly. I’d also like to thank members of the public for their assistance.”

Both offenders are to appear in the Alice Springs Court today.
