Witnesses Sought for Armed Robbery - Winnellie

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any information in relation to an armed robbery which occurred at a service station in Winnellie on 28 December 2012.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board of the Serious Crime Squad said a man entered the United Petroleum Service Station on the Stuart Highway at Winnellie at around 7:20pm armed with a knife.

“The man, wearing a distinct black balaclava with white stripes, threatened the attendant with the knife and subsequently made off with a small amount of cash,” Detective Senior Sergeant Board said.

“The offender is described to be an Australian male of Caucasian appearance, approximately 183cm tall with an average build. At the time of the offence he was wearing a dark blue v-neck t-shirt, black jeans and white flat sole casual shoes.”

“A console operator was left distraught all for a small amount of cash.”  

“I urge anyone who may recognise this man, who may have been in the area at the time or may have information that could assist in the investigation, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
