Fatal Crash - Alice Springs

Police

A male and female, both aged 34, have died as a result of a two car crash in Alice Springs yesterday evening.

Acting Commander Bob Rennie said the crash occurred on the corner of Stuart Highway and Ross Highway at 6:45pm

“A Toyota Troopcarrier and a Ford Sedan collided resulting in two occupants of the Ford suffering fatal injuries.

"A third occupant of the Ford and all four occupants of the Toyota were transported to Alice Springs Hospital.

"We understand two of them remain for treatment.”

Major Crash Detectives continue to investigate and anyone who may have witnessed the crash is urged to contact Police on 131 444.

The Stuart Highway and Ross Highway were re-opened to all traffic earlier this morning

The 2016 road toll now stands at 16 compared to 15 at the same time last year.
