Arrest for aggravated stealing - Alice Springs

Police

A man who sold more than $100,000 worth of property from a business which wasn’t his, was arrested and charged by Northern Territory Police in Alice Springs last week.

It is alleged the property was in the process of being sold when an employee of the business sold all the furniture during the course of a week.

Police were alerted to the incident after the new property owner returned to Alice Springs from interstate to discover furniture and other goods from the property were missing.

Detectives from Regional Investigations Division arrested and charged a 32-year-old man who was charged with one count each of Aggravated Stealing and Obtain benefit by deception and been remanded in custody to appear before the Alice Springs Local Court on September 10, 2019.

Police urge anyone who may have purchased property and furniture items from a hotel on Gap Road earlier last month, to contact them on 131 444 and reference PROMIS number 9058004.
