Charges – Aggravated assault – Marrara

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a 31-year-old male with aggravated assault and drug offences.

Police were called to a Marrara residence for a report of an assault around 11:00pm on 10 July 2019. The male allegedly assaulted his ex-partner which resulted in her sustaining minor injuries. The woman was conveyed to hospital for treatment.

Police received information of possible weapons at the location and subsequently set up a cordon. The man surrendered himself to police shortly after without incident.

Detectives from the Domestic & Family Violence Unit and the Drug & Organised Crime Squad jointly executed a search warrant at the property and located:
• A functional hydroponic grow lab
• Glassware consistent with a deconstructed clan lab
• Precursor chemicals for the hydroponic and clan lab
• 2 x ‘gel blaster’ pistols
• 3 x ‘gel blaster’ rifles - AR15, AK47 and air rifle
• 888 grams cannabis plant material

The man has been charged with:
• Aggravated Assault
• Supply Dangerous Drug - Schedule 2
• Possess Commercial Quantity - Schedule 2
• Cultivate Dangerous Drug
• Possess Drug Manufacturing Equipment
• 5 X Possess Prohibited Weapon - Firearms

He is due to appear in Darwin Local Court on 15/07/2019.
