Secondary sale of alcohol - Alice Springs

A woman will appear before the Alice Springs Local Court on alcohol-related charges after allegedly selling alcohol from her home in Alice Springs earlier this month.

On July 9, members of the Alcohol Policing Unit observed a person enter a residential address in Alice Springs and return with a one litre bottle of spirits. Officers spoke with the person who confirmed they had purchased the bottle of alcohol from a person within the premises.

Police spoke with the occupants of the home and conducted a search where they found a carton of one litre bottles of spirits.

The alcohol was seized and a 57-year-old woman was issued with a Notice to Appear before the Alice Springs Local Court on August 28, 2019.

The offence of Sale of Liquor not authorised by licence carries a maximum penalty of 300 penalty points or imprisonment for three years.
