Unlawful Entry – Katherine

Police

Operation Pelion in conjunction with the Northern Investigation Section are actively investigating an unlawful entry which occurred at Westpac Bank in Katherine this morning.

The location was entered around 3:30am when an unknown person forced entry via a glass door. Police are assessing what items may have been stolen. The offender is described as male and was wearing tan coloured pants with a dark jacket and hoodie covering his head.

Superintendent Daniel Shean said despite recent reports of a crime ridden weekend in Katherine, the town has experienced relatively low incidents of commercial unlawful entries over the past couple of months.

“Two unlawful entries were reported last weekend. For the month of June, there were seven unlawful entries; a significant reduction from the 41 commercial unlawful entries reported in January 2019. While one unlawful entry is one too many, the hard work of Katherine officers to prevent further property crime is evident.”

Anyone with information in relation to the unlawful entry is asked to notify police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number 9063892.
