Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service have declared a watch and act for parts of Girraween.

The watch and act has been declared for Rogers Road, Compigne Road, Kareela Drive, Power Road, and Watling Road.

The fire is erratic and may change direction at any time.

Residents are urged to take action to protect their families and homes by implementing emergency plans. No order to evacuate has been enacted at this time.

Multiple NTFRS crews are on scene battling the fire. Residents are advised to close their windows and stay indoors if there is smoke in the area. For the safety of firefighting crews and other vehicles, drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions. Obey any directions of emergency services personnel.
