Call for witnesses – Pedestrian Strike – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses in relation to a fatal pedestrian strike that occurred on Monday night.

Just before 9pm, the deceased was walking along Gap Road, in front of the hospital, when she fell onto the road. Several motorists managed to avoid her. However, the driver of a 2015 VF Holden Commodore sedan has driven over her before continuing on.

Emergency services were called to the scene, and the woman, aged 48, was taken to hospital in a critical condition. She later died as a result of her injuries.

The driver, a 59-year-old man, is assisting police with their enquiries. No charges have been laid yet.

Major Crash Detectives are investigating the matter and would like to speak with any motorists travelling north immediately before and after the incident.
