Fatal crash – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are investigating after a fatal crash in Alice Springs this morning.

Around 5:30am, police received reports of a collision between a truck and car at the intersection of the Stuart Highway and Tietkins Avenue, Braitling.

NT Police, NT Fire and Rescue Service and St John Ambulance attended the scene.

The 46-year-old male driver of the car was declared deceased at the scene. The 57-year-old male driver of the truck tested negative for alcohol. He was taken to Alice Springs Hospital and cleared of having suffered any injuries.

Detectives from Major Crash and the Alice Springs Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating the incident and are urging anyone with information to make contact.

Diversions were in place along the Stuart Highway throughout the morning and have since been lifted.
