UPDATES: Fatal crashes – Weddell and Johnston

A 25-year-old male has died over the weekend following a three-vehicle crash in Weddell last week.

Just before 5:30am 31 October 2023 emergency services attended a report of a collision between a vehicle and a motorbike on Finn Road.

The male motorcyclist died at the scene. The 25-year-old male driver was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition.

On Saturday 4 November 2023, the 25-year-old male succumbed to his injuries and died.

A 60-year-old male driver, who was overtaken immediately prior to the head-on crash, was also involved in the crash after the initial collision. He was uninjured and has provided a statement to assist investigators understand how the crash occurred.

Investigations into this crash are ongoing and a file will be prepared for the Coroner.

The pedestrian killed on Friday 3 November 2023, after being struck by two vehicles, has been identified as a 66-year-old man.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said, “Forensic toxicology reports for both drivers, and the deceased pedestrian, are pending.

“Investigations into this crash are ongoing and Major Crash detectives continue to appeal for witnesses who saw the man on the road prior to the crash occurring.”
