Call for information – Aggravated robbery – Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are calling for information after an aggravated robbery occurred in Alice Springs overnight.

Around midnight, police received reports of a man, allegedly armed with a hammer, unlawfully entering a premises on Winnecke Avenue, East Side.

It is alleged the man broke in through the front door and searched the premises before entering the bedroom of the 66-year-old female resident. The offender allegedly threatened the woman with the hammer, demanding she hand over her car keys and a key card.

The offender subsequently stole a quantity of cash and the victim’s mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

Members from Strike Force Viper and general duties initially attended the residence and a crime scene was declared.

The house has been forensically examined and the Alice Springs Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating this matter

Northern Territory Police do not believe this incident is linked to a previous aggravated robbery that occurred in East Side over the weekend.
