Call for information - Assault - Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police are investigating an alleged assault that occurred in Alice Springs. 

A 24-year-old woman was walking along an alleyway between Burke and Raggatt Street on Friday evening when an unknown man confronted her. 

The man allegedly grabbed the victim inappropriately before she was forced to the ground. She managed to break free and call for help with the offender decamping the area.

Detective Acting Sergeant Shawn Hohn said, "This was a very distressing experience for the young woman, and police are putting all efforts into identifying and apprehending the offender, who remains outstanding at this time."

The offender is described as Aboriginal appearance, having a thick build, and in his 30s. Around 11.00pm, he wore an AFL-style jumper with an orange pattern and turquoise board shorts at the time of the incident.

Police would like to speak with anyone who was in the area of the assault or who may have CCTV footage between 10.45pm and 11.15pm on Friday, 23rd February.
