Fatal Crash - Palmerston

The Northern Territory Police Major Crash Unit is investigating a fatal crash at Palmerston this morning.

Shortly after 9:00am the Joint Emergency Services Communications Centre (JESCC) received a report that a dual cab utility had collided into the back of a truck on an outbound lane of the Stuart Highway at the intersection with Lambrick Avenue, Palmerston.

St John’s Ambulance, NT Fire and Rescue and NT Police personnel attended the scene and found a 77-year-old male trapped in the utility.

The man’s condition worsened at the scene and CPR was commenced once he was extracted from the utility. Tragically the man was unable to be revived and he was declared deceased at 9.35am.

Traffic on the Stuart Highway is currently being diverted at Temple Terrace onto Roystonea Avenue, which is expected to continue until late this afternoon.

The public is urged to avoid the area if possible.
