Armed hold- up – Update #1 -Alice Springs - 4415546

Police are appealing for witnesses to an armed hold-up in Alice Springs last weekend to come forward.

Police received a report just after 4:30 pm on Saturday of an armed hold-up at the BP Service Station in Gap Road. The offender allegedly went into the BP armed with a kitchen knife and threatened the 31 year old male staff member. The victim told police that the man threatened him and chased him through the store with a knife before stealing a bottle of Wild Turkey and fleeing the premises.

A 22-year-old man was arrested a short time later. He has been charged with numerous offences including robbery whilst armed and has been remanded in custody to appear in court on January 12 next year.

Police would like to speak to witnesses to the incident who were seen in the CCTV footage.

Constable Ellis Tracey said it was clear from the footage that there were a number of witnesses to the incident and police would like to speak to them.

Police would also like to hear from any one else who may have been in the vicinity of the B P Gap Road service station around the time of the offence. Anyone with information should phone police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
