Police

Eight people were arrested and seven taken to hospital following a large disturbance in Larapinta at the weekend.

Police received a report just after 1am on Sunday of a large disturbance occurring in Saltwell Street. When they arrived they found seven injured people in the backyard of a residence. The five men, aged 24, 28, 31, 45 and 56 and two women aged 24 and 36, were all taken to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment of a range of injuries from broken arms to head injuries.

Police investigations have led to the arrest of eight people who have been charged with numerous offences including assault causing serious harm.

Police have seized a large number of weapons including knives, nulla nullas and a baseball bat. Investigations are continuing and further arrests are expected.

Police are calling on anyone with information about the incident or anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the assaults to come forward.
