NT Emergency Services Crews busy after Heavy Rains

Police

Emergency Service crews have been busy since the early hours of this morning, responding to calls as result of the strong winds and heavy rain last night.

Emergency Services Duty Officer NTES, Seth Dugdell said that the first call came in around 5.30am this morning.

"The strong winds have caused a fair bit of damage around the place. We have dispatched volunteer crews from Darwin and Palmerston and have attended to around eight call outs this morning.

"Most of the damage has been caused from flooding and trees falling on houses and power lines.

"Volunteer crews are here to assist with house flooding and helping with any dangerous trees which may have fallen down. If the public require assisatnce they are encouraged to call 131 444" said Mr Dugdell.
