Quick Duty Superintendents make tag team arrests - 4427420

Police

Two males and a female have been taken into custody following a robbery and an assault on a police officer last night.

Quick actions of two tag teaming Duty Superintendents resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old and a 32-year-old male after they allegedly robbed and threatened two younger males in a supermarket car park.

A 15-year-old and a 16-year-old male were riding their pushbikes through the car park in Nightcliff when they were approached by the two older males who allegedly threatened them with a knife and demanded money and one male's pushbike. The bike and approximately $50 in cash were handed over.

Duty Superintendents Michael Murphy and Bruce Porter were patrolling the area and attended the scene, obtained a description of the offenders and swiftly located the two older males.

Upon seeing police, the 24-year-old fled and Superintendent Porter made chase, catching up and ground stabilising him to make the arrest.

Whilst the male was being arrested, a 19-year-old female allegedly struck Superintendent Porter numerous times to the head and body with a pair of high heel shoes. She then attempted to flee causing Superintendent Murphy to also make chase before apprehending her.

Meanwhile the 32-year-old male was arrested by attending officers.

The bike was recovered and returned to the victim.

All three persons were arrested and taken into custody. Detectives from Darwin Station are continuing investigations.
