Aircraft crash – RAAF Base Darwin

Police

Two males have died in an aircraft incident that occurred after 10:00 am this morning.

It is alleged that the men, travelling in an Airnorth 30 seat, twin turbo prop plane, were conducting a retraining exercise when the crash occurred.

It appears that the plane left the RAAF runway, veered right and crashed into bushland.

Emergency Services were alerted at approximately 10:18 am.

Police, St John, NT Fire and Rescue, Airport Fire fighters, Australian Federal Police and RAAF personnel all responded.

Emergency Service personnel remain at the scene.

NT Police will continue the investigation into the crash and will prepare a report for the coroner.
