At 12:05pm police received a report via UHF radio that a man had been attacked by a crocodile off the Cobourg Peninsular near Black Point.

The 45-year-old man who was attacked is believed to be a professional fisherman who was collecting trepang in the water at the time of the attack.

He has received injuries to his head and shoulders, however his injuries are not life threatening.

The man is being conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital by the Care Flight Helicopter, and is expected to arrive at RDH in the next few hours.
