Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy who escaped from a juvenile holding centre in Alice Springs last week.

Police received a report just after 4am on Friday that the boy had threatened staff at the Aranda House Youth Holding Centre before escaping the facility. Police investigations led to his arrest at a residence in Spicer Crescent in the early hours of this morning.

He has been charged with aggravated assault, escaping lawful custody and unlawfully damaging property.

He was refused bail and appeared in the Alice Springs Youth Justice Court today.
