A woman has died in a single vehicle rollover north of Alice Springs overnight.

Police received a report just before 10 pm last night that a vehicle appeared to have left the Stuart Highway and crashed approximately 110 kilometres north of Alice Springs. Major Crash investigators attended the scene and found the only occupant of the Nissan Tida deceased in the vehicle.

Police believe the driver was a 27-year-old female. It appears the vehicle was travelling south along the Stuart highway when the driver lost control of the car causing it to roll.

No further details are available at this time. The death brings the Territory road toll to 21 compared to 14 for the same period last year.
