A 26-year-old male has been apprehended and had his car seized after driving in an unsafe manner in Darwin City last night.

It is alleged that at approximately 8:00 pm the 26-year-old, driving a white Nissan Skyline, was driving in a dangerous manner, causing a nearby motorcyclist on Mitchell Street to take evasive action.

He then drove to the rear of the motorbike and proceeded to spin the wheels of the vehicle, causing a large amount of smoke.

The 36-year-old motorcyclist, who was an off duty police officer, attended the Mitchell Street Police Station to report the incident and was followed by the offender.

He was arrested and also returned a positive blood alcohol reading of 1.01 percent and later charged with driving with a medium range blood alcohol content, driving in a dangerous manner and doing burn outs and was bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates court on 12 April.
