Plane search –Nightcliff - 4483489

Police

Police and fire crews attended Nightcliff foreshore tonight following a report a plane had gone down in the ocean.

The report was received just after 6pm from a woman who was on the jetty at the time and said she saw the plane go down. She described the aircraft as a small plane similar to a Cessna.

Police investigations showed no missing aircraft at the time, however a search was mounted using a helicopter, Marine and Fisheries, and Territory Response Section members as well as general duties police to cover the surrounding area. Fire and Rescue crews also attended to assist.

At this time no evidence of the plane has been found however the search will continue.
