Arrest for ambulance attack -Alice Springs

A 38-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly threw a brick through the front windscreen of an ambulance at a town camp last night.

The ambulance was called to Walpiri Camp on the North Stuart Highway just before 4am this morning, however  the two ambulance officers were confronted by the alleged offender when they arrived at the camp.

The man allegedly picked up a brick and threw it through the front windscreen as the ambulance officers tried to leave the camp. The windscreen shattered and showered the 35-year-old male ambulance officer and the 27-year-old female officer with glass.

Police arrested the man just before 8am today. He has been charged with unlawfully damaging property and endangering occupants of a vehicle. He was refused bail and will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court this afternoon.
