Police are investigating an incident in which a woman was assaulted on the RFDS lawns in Alice Springs Last night.

Police received a report from a security guard just before 10pm last after he found an unconscious woman lying on the lawns.

The woman was taken to the Alice Springs Hospital by ambulance and police established a crime scene.

The woman remains in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit and detectives from the Southern Investigations Division are investigating.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area to phone 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
