NT Police are currently investigating an assault at Nightcliff Middle School earlier today.

It is alleged a 60-year-old man was assaulted by a youth, after an altercation at the school at about 11:45 am. The 14-year-old male offender is believed to have punched the teacher to the face before producing a weapon and stabbing him to the arm and once to the leg.

The victim was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital.

The youth was immediately suspended and taken into the care of his family.

Police are continuing investigations in relation to the incident.
