A 22-year-old woman will appear in court after allegedly assaulting a police officer on Saturday morning.
Police were called to a disturbance in Morinda Street Larrakeyah just before 3.30am yesterday. They found an intoxicated woman bleeding from the hand and tried to assist her, however the woman grabbed a female police officer by the hair and dragged her to the ground before gouging her eyes and punching her to the face.
The woman was eventually arrested and taken to the watch house where she again resisted police and kicked another police officer in the leg.
She was charged with:
Assault police X 2
Disorderly behaviour in public
Disorderly behaviour in a police station
Resist police
Furnish a false name
She has been bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on February 18.
