Car crashes into tree -Alice Springs

A man was taken to hospital after being injured when the car in which he was a passenger crashed into a tree in Braitling last night.

Police received numerous calls just before 9pm that a car was being driven erratically and at speed through the northern suburbs of Alice Springs. Reports then came in a short time later that a vehicle had crashed into a tree in Elliott Street.

Police, ambulance and fire crews attended and found a green Ford Falcon sedan which was extensively damaged after crashing into a tree. An injured male passenger was still in the vehicle, however the driver had fled the scene.

The 26-year-old passenger was taken to Alice Springs Hospital by ambulance for treatment and remains in a stable condition.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle being driven prior to the crash to come forward.
