Drug arrests South Australia – Alice Springs

Police

Police from Alice Springs and South Australia combined their resources earlier this week to execute three search warrants on the APY lands of South Australia.

Members of the Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk and the Dog Operations Unit in Alice Springs travelled to the APY lands on Monday to take part in the two- day operation targeting Cannabis supply.

Detective Acting Sergeant Adam Van Oosten said the operation resulted in the seizure of 175 grams of Cannabis valued at an estimated $25,000. A 65-year-old man will be summonsed to face a South Australian Magistrates Court in relation to possession and supply of the drugs.

Det A/Sgt Van Oosten said the operation was the most recent in a series of joint operations between police from the Northern Territory and South Australia.

"Police from the Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk, together with our drug dogs and handler ,regularly work with police from South Australia to target drug trafficking in the APY lands and this is another example of the success of pro-active joint operations in the cross border region."
