Fatal single vehicle rollover - Timber Creek - Update

Four international tourists were involved in single vehicle rollover at 10.15 am yesterday, 32kms east of Timber Creek.

As a result of the crash, a 23-year-old man has died, a 19-year-old woman sustained serious injuries, a 25-year-old woman received minor injuries and the 19-year-old male driver was unhurt.

Both female victims were airlifted to Royal Darwin Hospital in a stable condition.

The vehicle was travelling east towards Katherine and initial Police investigations put the possible cause of the crash as a tyre blow-out causing the Toyota Land Cruiser to roll several times.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether seatbelts were being worn by the occupants.

It is not believed that alcohol was a factor.

There will be no further information regarding the nationalities of the victims until relevant consulates have been advised.
