Five arrested over night in Alice Springs

Police

Police in Alice Spring were kept busy overnight with a number of incidents that occurred throughout the night.

At around 11:00 pm a Nissan Bluebird was stolen from Peuce Place.

Around the same time security reported to a passing Police vehicle that offenders were on the premises at the Memorial Club.
Several bottles of assorted spirits had been stolen.

Officers attended and were called back to the location shortly after leaving, as it was reported that two males had attempted to again unlawfully enter the club through the same entry point. Members attended and arrested the two, aged 17 and 27 years. The stolen Bluebird was also located at the scene at approximately 1:20 am.

CCTV and Security reported two unlawful entries at the Town and Country Tavern in Todd Street at approximately 3:20 am. Alcohol was again the target in the offence.

A 22-year-old male was later arrested.

The recovered Nissan Bluebird was stolen again from the Memorial Club at approximately 3:50 am.

It was located a short time later on Leichardt Terrace, resulting in the foot chase and arrest of a 19-year-old male.

Police also arrested a 15-year-old male youth after further information determined he was also involved in the car theft.

They are all expected to be interviewed and charged later today.

Superintendent Sean Parnell said although it was a busy night, it was a good result for police.

"It was a great combination of Police and security conducting patrols, as well as assistance from the public that resulted in the speedy apprehension of these five offenders." he said.
